Free Money? Sign me up!
Bright Hub has a contest going right now where they are giving away free money (in the form of $200 Visa Gift Cards) for just joining the site and signing up for a weekly digest of new articles published. You pick the areas you are interested in (including none if none of them interest you). I run the MMO channel, so obviously I highly recommend you pick the “VIDEO GAME” digest of which the MMO channel is a part.
You can also then include email addresses of up to 10 friends/family for them to sign up, and you get an extra entry for each one of them that signs up.
All the details are on the contest page. It is certainly worth it and the weekly digest is just information about articles you might like anyway (including some written by yours truly and my wife!).

thanks for your information
Massively Multiplayer RPGs are the way to go. Game design has been something I have done for many years, but it’s the Pen and Paper type of game, and playing them online has been a bit tough because, well, you used to need a table top. Now, with sites like RPGTonight.com and the like, those of us whom enjoy the pen and paper variety of games can now have our own Massively Multiplayer sessions. Being a game master for many such games has been fun and rewarding.
Another note, playing games like Threshold-RPG from way back when Ultima Online came about, it still amazes me how fun that game can be all these years later. It has evolved over the years, and even though many things were given the boot, other things were instated that really help the players in their struggles for advancement and RP. It would have been nice if Kylamane was still an active deity. It’s kind of lame how now the Settite church has taken her flock in and is now one of the dominant factions of Threshold.
A game I have intended to publish, Hobs and Goblins, will probably never see the light of day because many of the cliche Fantasy themes are just so abundant. Its hard for a fledgling game designer to really make it past that part where all the games before theirs have many of the themes theirs does and they wonder if they did come out with it, if they wouldn’t have a lawsuit on their hands. When is a Fantasy theme like certain types of of magic really owned by someone else when the origins are so old that nobody should have a claim on it. But, of course, they came out with it in a game first, so bugger off. I can understand if someone borrowed your game mechanics but the idea itself is free to everyone to express. The good thing is, this designer has more fresh ideas in developement that are sure to please everyone.
I read a cool article.
